Shortino’s started in 1971, when Frank and Fran Shortino bought their first salon in York. It grew from a two-chair shop into a seven-chair full-service salon.
In 1991 they sold that original location and converted an old home on East Market Street into the salon you visit today. We are still at 3429 East Market Street. You get careful color and cuts in a place that still feels like a family business.

Frank and Fran open their first York salon with two chairs.
1991
They convert the East Market Street home into Shortino’s, which is still the address clients book today.
Today
Frank Michael runs the salon day to day, and we have a day spa here too.
This floor was a house until 1991, when the family converted it into the salon.
Why clients stay
Training, custom work, and clients who stay
These are the three things the family will not cut corners on.
01
Highly trained stylists
Our master stylist, Frank Michael, trained overseas at Vidal Sassoon in London and has worked in New York and in fashion and editorial. Everyone on the team is encouraged to keep taking classes, because hair techniques do not stand still.
02
Customized approach
Before we start, we talk about your hair type, your face shape, your lifestyle, and how much maintenance you actually want. We are not going to hand you one formula copied off a photo.
03
Client experience
You should feel welcome when you walk in, get a real consultation, and end up with a stylist who knows your hair. That is why a lot of our clients have been with the same person for years.
